Southern Samity Losing The Plot?

Southern Samity may have been doing all the right things at the start of their 2nd Division campaign but it didn't take long for things to go downhill.

There is, reportedly, a lot of friction between the Southern officials regarding the misuse of funds allocated to them by the West Bengal Govt.

According to a few reports, Southern Samity officials Ratan Dey, Montu Saha are accused of misusing the 50 lac rupees granted by the West Bengal Govt. for footballing development, thus generating acrimony among the Southern ranks.

The fact that none of the officials are willing to speak to the media about it is sparking more speculations.

However, a senior member of the side was quoted saying that the turmoil inside the club does disturb the focus of the players.

Southern are still at the second position in the 2nd Division League standings, a point behind league leaders Neroca, having garnered 7 points from 4 matches. Southern were comfortably beaten 2-0 in their last away match against Kenkre FC of Mumbai.

Having one of the strongest squads on paper, Southern were expected to usurp the other competing teams and elevate themselves to the I-League with ease.

However, their I-League dream is on the verge of slipping away owing to the internal turmoil.

It will be a salute to the players' character and resolve if Southern can still make it to the top division from here.
