After a summer of extended contract negotiations, Haitian winger Sony Norde has decided to sign for Mohun Bagan FC in the upcoming season. The former Mumbai FC player, who was being courted by several Indian Super League franchises has signed and sent the contract that was sent to him by officials from the Bengal outfit.

Norde, who was at the crux of the Bagan team which won the I-League in the 2014/15 season and ended as runners in the last campaign, was approached by a number of ISL teams who were eager to secure his services. However, Bagan officials Srinjoy Bose and Debashis Dutta managed to convince him to stay, stating that the team will be built around him and that the fans love him as one of their one. Having let go of all of their overseas players from last season, including Katsumi Yusa, Eduardo, and Darryl Duffy, it was imperative for the club to ensure Norde signs for them. According to various sources inside the club, Norde will be paid a whopping 2.1 crore rupees for the season, which is a new record in the Indian football circuit.

The Haitian, will, however, be available only from October and will skip the Calcutta Football League which has already begun. He will feature in the I-League, and will add much-needed firepower to the Mohun Bagan front line.
