Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan is all set to bid adieu to talismanic winger Sony Norde, who had been struggling with a knee injury. Mohun Bagan has reached a mutual agreement with Norde on Friday after it was clear that the winger would require surgery on his knee.

The Bagan skipper will be released right after the Kolkata derby and will travel to Argentina to seek treatment.

Earlier Norde had sustained a knee injury in the I-League encounter against Churchill Brothers and had to be stretchered off the field. He further aggravated the injury in the match against Neroca FC.

Norde then consulted Mumbai-based orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Anant Joshi who suggested that Norde could get back to his prime fitness through weeks of rehabilitation. However, things did not go according to plan for Sony Norde, as the sharp pain in his right knee refused to desert him.

As things stand now, Norde will have to get his right meniscus reconstructed through surgery which means he will be out for atleast two months.

Norde's departure would mean that Bagan will have to look for a replacement sooner rather than later.
