Match Commissioner Blames Mehtab Hossain For Post-Match Scuffle At Bengaluru
Chaos erupted at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on 25th February after the match between Bengaluru FC and East Bengal, with both teams getting involved in a nasty altercation.
It all started with Mehtab Hossain celebrating East Bengal's emphatic 3-1 victory in front of the home fans near Bengaluru's bench - something which infuriated Bengaluru coach, Albert Roca. Moments later, he was caught in a nasty scuffle with Mehtab and soon both the teams and their support staff got involved.
It needed timely intervention from the police to calm the flaring tempers.
However, the match commissioner Michael Andrews has blamed Mehtab for the incident, identifying him as the instigator.
The report will be forwarded to the AIFF Disciplinary Committee for further evaluation, who will then decide whether Mehtab gets away with a warning, a suspension or a fine.
Surprisingly, East Bengal coach Trevor Morgan criticised Mehtab's on field antics at the post-match press conference.
East Bengal are currently gearing up for their next I-League encounter against Shillong Lajong in Shillong.
Amidst all the controversy surrounding him, Mehtab was spotted in a good mood during East Bengal's latest training session.
