India U17 World Cup Squad Train At Jose Mourinho’s Academy
The Indian Under 17 squad, which had left for an exposure trip to Europe a couple of days back, has reportedly been training at the Troia Jose Mourinho Academy in Portugal. The boys, who are accompanied by head coach Luis Norton de Matos and some selected support staff, have been working on their fitness and diets as a part of their training regime.
Luis, who was appointed a couple of months back following the sacking of Nicolas Adams said, “ It is impossible to do well in the World Cup without playing against the best. That is why we are doing this tour.”
It is worth mentioning that the Under 17 squad will be participating in the FIFA U 17 World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in October of this year. As such, the All India Football Federation is eager to ensure that the team gets maximum opportunity to settle with each other and put on a good show in the first major international footballing tournament in the country. They were a part of a conditioning camp in Goa for more than six weeks, and will now face the likes of Sporting Lisbon, PSG and other reputed clubs from Spain and Italy as a part of their European visit.
The final list of participants for the Under 17 World Cup will be known by 7th June, but it is certain that the likes of Brazil and Nigeria will be featuring in it.
