Eager to put their disappointing season behind them, Kingfisher East Bengal have been doing some swift business in the transfer window. The Kolkata giants have already signed a number of quality players, including 3 from the I-League winners Aizawl FC and are now courting Wilson Palacios, the former Tottenham Hotspur and Stoke City midfielder.

According to reports, the club has already made initial contact with his agent. Palacios(32), who has represented Honduras 97 times in the International Stage scoring 6 goals, is also said to be keen on plying his trade in India.

Palacious, who has featured in the last 2 FIFA World Cups, excels in the role of a destroyer or holding midfielder in front of the back four. In his illustrious career, he has played alongside the likes of Peter Crouch and Gareth Bale in his six English Premier League seasons.

Tenacious and ever ready to make a tackle, he will fill up the void left by Mehtab Hossain. At only 32 years of age, it is also worth noting that the former Spurs player can not only bring experience and quality to the side but also fulfil the role of the marquee player if East Bengal decides to join the Indian Super League.

When the officials at the club were contacted by reporters from major Bengali daily Anandabazar Patrika, they confirmed the same and also mentioned that the other overseas recruits will be hired only after conducting proper trials.
