Fikru Teferra Close To Signing A Deal With Mohammedan SC
Mohammedan Sporting Club are close to signing a deal with ISL's first ever goal-scorer Fikru Teferra, FeverPitch.in can confirm.
According to a top official of the club, the deal is said to have been agreed in principle and the contract papers have already been sent to the 30-year-old Ethiopian International.
Fikru made a name for himself in the first edition of the Indian Super League in 2014, where he bagged five goals for Atletico de Kolkata in 12 appearances.
A fallout with coach Antonio Habas resulted in Fikru joining Chennaiyin FC in the 2015 Indian Super League, where he was unable to replicate his stellar performances, scoring just one solitary goal.
He signed a one-year contract with Bangladeshi side Sheikh Russel KC after his ISL stint with Chennaiyin.
If things work out well, he is now all set to pen a deal with Mohammedan Sporting for the 2nd Division I-League.
Mohammedan will begin their I-League 2nd division journey on January 21, when they take on another Kolkata outfit, Southern Samity.
The addition of Fikru will no doubt bolster their attack and more than anything, it will be a statement of intent from the club as to how hungry they are for an I-League berth.
Only time will tell if we would see his signature summersault celebration in the 2nd division I-League.
