In an attempt to bolster their squad before the season kicks off, East Bengal have announced the signing of Trinidad and Tobago national team centre-back Deon Carlyle Mitchel.

The 29-year-old has is the third foreigner in the squad, and will partner Arnab Mandal in the heart of defence.

Mitchell has professionally played in the Major League Soccer, which is America's topmost football league.

He made his bow for the Vancouver Whitecaps FC in September 2011, and was loaned to NASL outfit FC Edmonton in 2013. He was picked up by Seoul E-Land in December 2014 following his release from the Whitecaps.

The well-built defender made his debut for the national side in 2010, and scored his first goal in a 3-1 loss against Honduras last year in a 2018 Fifa World Cup Qualifier. He is a strong tackler, and will provide the experience and composure Khalid Jamil's side needs in defence.
