After a lacklustre showing in the I-League and the Fed Cup, East Bengal have released all three of their remaining foreigners namely- Willis Plaza, Wedson and Bukenya.

Willis Plaza had already left for Trinidad and Tobago after a tiff with management and he has been released with immediate effect and also fined 5 lakh rupees. Plaza was extremely unstable and profligate in front of goal during the business end of the I-League as well as the Federation Cup. missing sitters in the Federation Cup semi-final against arch-rival Mohun Bagan.

Wedson and Bukenya were also released by the Red and Gold brigade after their inconsistent performance throughout the season even though they were roped in with high hopes at the start of the season. Wedson was even being compared to Sony Norde by the faithful during the initial period of the league but injuries and a series of poor results saw the supporters eventually turn their back on him.

Wedson is due to fly back to Haiti on the 1st of June while Bukenya would go back to Uganda during the weekend.

In the meantime after roping in Al Amna, Chullova and Brandon from Aizawl the East Bengal management is looking to make further in-roads into the Aizawl ranks by roping in Zomingliana Ralte, who grabbed all the limelight by scoring the now crucial winner against Mohun Bagan in Aizawl.

In the midst of all the turmoil regarding where the clubs would be eventually playing the other teams have taken a wait and watch policy until everything is resolved but East Bengal has gone exactly in the opposite direction and looks hell bent on literally recruiting the whole of the league winning Aizawl team. Their relation with the Mizo talisman and inspiration Tulunga is playing a huge role in this we guess.

Even with the dark clouds of uncertainty looming over the future of the Kolkata Giants, East Bengal are determined to break their dry run on the national scene this year.
