2nd Division I-League : Fateh Hyderabad Held Neroca FC To A Goalless Draw
Fateh Hyderabad held I-League aspirants Neroca FC to a goalless draw in the 3rd round of the 2nd Division I-league final round at the Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad today.
The first half was evenly matched by the Young Fateh Hyderabad side and kept Neroca FC on their toes. They defended with grit, denying the experience Neroca side any scoring opportunities.
Fateh’s best chance was squandered by Lalrozama Fanai off a great cross from Rinreithan Shaiza, which otherwise could have given them the lead.
Neroca meanwhile settled down an unleashed flurry of attacks to be denied by the ever-alert Kunzang Bhutia at the goal in quick succession.
The match went into the break with the scoreline intact.
The 2nd half started with the Manipur side playing with more intent. They dominated possession and proceedings and created many chances, but failed to find the back of net.
The hot and humid weather soon began to take toll on the ageing Neroca midfielders as they slowed down the proceedings while the young Fateh side defended valiantly to see through the match without any goals being scored.
“We’re definitely happy to get one point against a strong team. I said the same thing to the kids that we don’t need to do anything stupid. The only thing that hurt us is the last game and I would’ve been happy to have had three points from three matches but we’ll take two because we played a very experienced team,” Fateh Hyderabad coach Yogesh Maurya said after the match.
With this draw, Fateh Hyderabad gathered 2 points from 3 matches while Neroca accumulates 5 points from 3 matches.
