Manipur's NEROCA FC scripted history winning the Second Division League following their emphatic 4-1 win over LoneStar Kashmir at the Trc Turf Stadium in Kashmir today. Felix Odili Chidi scored a sensational hat-trick(32', 46', 55') while Subash Singh(61') netted another to elevate The Pride of Manipur to the I-League. LoneStar's Waris Amin pulled one consolation goal back for his side in the 77th minute to reduce the deficit.

The win meant that NEROCA's unbeaten streak in the final round continued as they lifted themselves to 23 points from 9 matches, 7 points clear of their nearest rivals Southern Samity.

The Gift Raikhan-coached side had a phenomenal second division campaign where they lost just once to Mohammedan Sporting in January. Since then there has been no stopping NEROCA FC as they went on to continue an enviable unbeaten run of 12 matches including today's win against Lonestar Kashmir FC.

This will be the first time that a team from Manipur will be playing in the I-League. Mr. Sunando Dhar, CEO, I-League lauded the Manipur-outfit. "With NEROCA FC's introduction into the top flight Indian Football, the competition in the Northeast region will definitely be fiercer and tougher,” he said.

NEROCA will next host Southern Samity at the Khuman Lampak Main Stadium on 28th May where they are bound to get a Hero's welcome.
